What's It Like Working at Lowes

Okay if you need a job, but not meant to be long term

It was great at the beginning but current management has run the store into the ground. They don't care about you as a person. You're just a body that breathes.

Job has good days and bad days. This was a temporary job while I was in college. Management needs help and doesn't train well at all. Stick to this being a TEMP job if possible.

Tolerable at best

Easy to get taken advantage of, if you're a hard worker. Opportunity to move up but poor management makes you think otherwise. Lack of accountability and responsibility, others aren't working as hard as you and are paid the same if not more. Not all stores are created equal, there are some good ones and bad ones of course. Lack of communication as a company enables a lot of mistakes, repeat visits to tasks you've already completed. Others tend to mess up what you've done overnight and you'll have to fix it over and over. If you show up and answer calls and do your job, you'll be stretched thin and used. If you don't stand your ground and be selfish and focus on your priorities first then you tend to not get anything done due to helping everyone else all the time. Overall, it's alright if you need a paycheck but there are certainly other options out there.

Solid work place. Great coworkers

Merchandiser. No weekend or evening work. 6-3 Monday through Friday. Great people. Just wish they paid more. I had fun working there. Lots of walking and moving so you need good shoes.

Pros

Great coworkers/health insurance

Cons

Early shift. Can get tedious

Terrible management.

There's no training. There's online "training" that is pointless and has due dates, but good luck finishing it on time because after your first day they just throw you out on the floor and you basically have to train yourself. I do not recommend working at Lowe's. Most of the workers are hiding in the back not doing anything but talking. Coworkers are not friendly. No breaks. It felt like literally no one knew what was going on. Prepare to be left by yourself while everyone hides while you are the only one working.

Lack of integrity

Not a particularly bad place to work but many corporate decisions lack common sense it's like they hire people who have never worked in a store and the firing process is way too long

Workers

I enjoyed working at Lowe's in Livermore but the pay is horrible for the job we do so that is the reason why I left.I started at the Dublin store and transferred to Livermore it was closer to my house great set schedule if you are early person..just lack some communication but over it was good

Cons

Communication and pay

If you give it a chance it is a great place to work and the people are great.

Working for the Merchandise Service Team, I deal with Reset mostly. Setting bays to the Plan-O-Gram and putting up displays for vendors, but I also have to help customers when needed. It is a Great work environment and my Manager is always pushing members to better. There has been a number of times that he and the Store Manager have gone above and belong what that need to when I've needed help at the store or out.

Pros

Great Team ( MST ) to work with.

Cons

Not great pay for the amount of work I do.

They will work to death

A computer makes the schedule. You have no life. Recently they said no mandate but weekly testing and wearing a mask for anyone not vaxxed. They can't keep help as it is. Stay away. Many other companies are not doing this and if you work there you will have no life. The place is very unorganized

No complaints

Great benefits! I don't really have much else to say other than I need to type 150 characters. Consistent schedule which is nice! A great place to work during the pandemic!

This job sucks

Management never knew what they were doing back end was continually destroyed by associates managers never cared to help out and just sat on the computer all day

Great Work environment, gives helping out a new meaning

Great Team Work it can get hectic with a lot of customers especially if understaffed but don't worry there is always someone there to help you never do a lift by yourself because if you get hurt they cant care because didn't ask for help. keep it simple.

Great Company

I enjoyed my time working here! Great company and a great work environment. Great pay and there's always room for advancement. I also loved that I had a set schedule working full time.

Productive and fun place to work

Great for someone who is looking for entry level job. Also if you need a flexible schedule. If you want to move up be prepared to work long hours and holidays.

Pros

Flexible work schedule

Heavy workloads for low pay and non-stop harassment from management.

This company has no culture. They are just another greedy publicly traded corporation which means that the share price and stockholders come before anything else. If you are an hourly employee and you start to move up in pay over the years then they will find the most bogus reasons to terminate your employment. I've witnessed this happen to several fellow associates. I do not recommend working for Lowe's Home Improvement.

Over worked and under paid

I like doing my job but they make it difficult by not hiring enough people or they would just throw any person with no work expirence in for help. It doesnt help when you the manger dont hire

Upper Management shows no support

I love the people that I actually work with. But it starts to fall apart in management my upper management for the most part doesn't care it is all about the customer but too an extreme.

Work isn't bad and can be enjoyable, but many things could be better

Lots of good learning experience, lots of new skills to develop, to me doesn't pay fairly for the skills I am learning. Management at my store seems to not work as team amongst themselves or the other associates which leads to many problems. The home life/work balance could be better, getting days off shouldn't be so complicated. The work itself isn't bad, it can even be enjoyable. Someone who has certifications on PPE and is trusted with the tasks that those certifications entail should be paid more than the average sales associate but aren't.

Great place to work

It was a great place to work at and it worked great with my schedule just wish they would let us take off more but other than that it was a pretty good company to work for.

Not a good long-term job

From my personal experience, I've been rejected and ignored for job advancement. I was given a false opportunity to get the job I wanted if I took another position relating to it. Promised a small raise but never got it, even after multiple attempts at asking. Besides my situation, my job in the back-end is tough for one person to do. Lots of unpredictable situations have happened with not many people willing to help, or just help in general. Workload tends to lead to overtime in order to get important tasks done. If you love staying later than intended nearly every day to make overtime, then that's a plus. Supervisor is not encouraging and criticizes you if you stop for a moment to think or rest. Upper management does not pay attention unless you did something wrong. Some co-workers make the job fun, tolerable, and even help you out, depending on the department. The hourly pay is not worth staying at this place for an extended period of time due to the stress, but the benefits make up for the lack in pay. I would not recommend staying here for over a year.

Pros

Tons of overtime, some nice co-workers, great benefits

Cons

Lack of pay, poor job advancement, overall bad morale among staff

Fun and company drinvin with lots of benefits.

Good benefits, fun people, flexible hours. Bonus checks often. Always encouraging you to apply to the open positions frist before posting to the net. Pizza and drinks all the time. In house Power equipment licenses.
